Engineers of the future

Representatives from NASA visited McKee's Science classes today. They discussed the importance of problem solving and the different career opportunities NASA has to over. The representatives gave the students the following engineering problem to solve: build a launch pad for the model missile. The lunch pad could only be 6 inches tall and students had 10 straws, tape and 20 min to construct their structure. The winning structure was determined by the amount of weight it could hold. Students were truly engaged in this STEM activity.
